Pianos, Pies & Pirouettes are thrilled to announce our action-packed Holiday Activities & Food programme is returning for Summer 2025. 

Our fantastic programme running throughout August provides enriching activities for hundreds of kids across the Borough of Wigan.

We’re on a mission to launch something huge for Wigan’s youngsters - a youth-led podcast called ‘Pods of Sunshine’. 

It’s all about giving kids a voice on issues that matter to them.

We’ve launched a crowdfunding bid with a target of £12,000! 

Every penny donated goes directly to making this project a reality.

At the heart of our ‘Pods of Sunshine’ project is something super important – the Lundy Model of child participation. 

What does that mean? 

• Young voices have a safe space to speak 
• Kids have a platform to express views 
• Adults truly listen and respect what they say 
• Youngsters can have real influence on issues affecting their lives 

We’re not just making podcasts; we’re empowering the next generation to become broadcasters, journalists, storytellers and change-makers. 

We want them to ask questions, express opinions, and influence decisions that affect their daily lives - up front, frankly and fearlessly. 

Let’s put the future of Wigan in the hands and voices of its youngsters!

Calling all those who are 11 to 16 years of age and who are a part of our Sunshine House HAF programme. 

Get ready for an incredible opportunity! You could be part of our amazing ‘Pods of Sunshine’ initiative. 

This isn’t just sitting in a classroom - it’s immersive media training designed to turn you into a digital whiz. 

We’re talking about learning how to create killer social channel content. You’ll get trained on being front of camera – confident and ready to tell your story.

 And you’ll learn the magic of video editing software to make your content pop. You’ll be working from a dedicated podcasting studio at Wigan Hall.

The studio is based at Wigan Hall. PodPod is Wigan’s go-to space for professional audio and video! 

It’s got state-of-the-art soundproofing, high-end microphones, HD cameras, and everything you need to record, edit, and produce standout content! 

We’re talking top kit like multiple microphones, HD PTZ Cameras for different angles, a Stream Deck controller, and professional recording interfaces. 

This is your chance to gain skills for the future, express yourself and have fun doing it!

It all started with an idea to mark the 80th anniversary of the end of WWII in Europe. We appeared on the news, interviewing local elders who lived through the very first Victory in Europe Day. 

That segment, born from a grassroots idea, has grown into something much bigger. A platform for the youngsters of Wigan to get their voices heard. 

Almost 90 years after George Orwell wrote “The Road to Wigan Pier”, kids from the same streets are stepping into the media spotlight- not as subjects of someone else’s story, but as authors of their own. 

This is a full-circle moment…
